How to figure out a song’s meaning
Artist write songs and poems to express their feelings. Finding the meaning of a song is a demanding task because we do not know what the writer wasfeeling at the time of writing the song or poem. Whenever we are successful in finding the meaning of a song or poem, it brings a great feeling of satisfaction and appreciation towards the song.
These are the steps involved in finding the meaning of a song.
It is very important to know the lyrics of a song.
Try to figure out the type of song. Is it classical,country, etc?
Find out what kind of poetic devices are used and then re-examine the lyrics. You will be able to find a whole new meaning of words.
Listen to the song while reading the lyrics. It can help you to find deeper connection with words. Try to look for message of the song.
Keep an open mind and discuss the meaning with other people. You will be surprised how different perspectives can open up your mind to new meaning.
