    NARRATIVE

    Purpose: to amuse, entertain and to deal with actual or vicarious experience in different ways.

    Generic Structure:
     – Orientation : sets the scene and introduces the participants.
     – Evaluation : a stepping back to evaluate the plight.
     – Complication : a crisis arises.
     – Resolution : the crisis is resolved, for better or for worse.
     – Re-orientation : optional.

    Language Features:
    1. The use of nouns phrases
    2. The use of connectives
    3. The use of adverbial phrases of time and place
    4. The use of Simple Past Tense
    5. The use of action verbs
    6. The use of saying verbs
    7. The use of thinking verbs
