    You                  : thank goodness for that.
   
    Dialog 2
    Situation: the sun and the Moon invited the Ocean to their cottage. The Ocean asked them whether he could come with his friends because it was impossible to leave his friends.
    The Ocean                   : May I go with all of my friends?
    The Sun                       : Ceartainly.
    The Moon                    : I’m glad everything is running well.

    Dialog 3
    Situation :You borrowed your friend’s new digital camera. It suddenly stopped working. You have taken it back to him.
    You                  : I’ m terribly sorry, I think I’ ve broken it.
    Your friend         : It’s okay. The main buttons come out, that’s all.

    EXPRESSING PAIN
    - Ouch!That was hurt
    - It is painful
    - It hurts me
    - I’ve got a backache/toothache/stomachache
    - I feel sore all over
    - My eyes hurt

2. Genre
 
    Analytical Exposition

    Social function:  to persuade the reader or listener that something is the case.

    Generic structure:
    - Thesis
       Position:  introduces a topic and indicates the writer’s position.
       Preview:  outlines the main arguments to be presented.
    - Arguments
       Point:  restates main arguments outlined in a preview.
       Elaboration:  develops and supports each point/argument.
    - Conclusion:  restates the writer’s position.
