The African Elephant

African elephants are the largest land animals on Earth. They belong to the family Elephantidae and are generally divided into two species: the African savanna elephant and the African forest elephant. Both types share many similarities but differ slightly in size, habitat, and physical characteristics. In general, African elephants are known for their large ears, wrinkled skin, and curved tusks made of ivory.

African elephants have bodies specially designed for survival in their environments. Their large ears help regulate body temperature by releasing excess heat. Their long trunks serve as a versatile tool used for breathing, drinking, grabbing objects, and communicating. Elephants also have strong legs that support their massive bodies, allowing them to travel long distances in search of food and water.

These animals are herbivores, eating grass, leaves, fruits, and bark. An adult elephant can consume up to 300 pounds of food in a single day. They usually live in herds led by a matriarch, the oldest and most experienced female in the group. Living in herds helps protect them from predators and strengthens social bonds within the group.

Today, African elephants face serious threats due to habitat loss and illegal hunting for ivory. Many conservation programs have been created to protect them, including anti-poaching laws and wildlife reserves. Although their population is still declining, global awareness about elephant protection continues to increase. Elephants play an important role in maintaining ecosystem balance, making their conservation vital for the environment.

Last month, Mr. Donovan bought a beautiful parrot from a well-known pet shop. The shop owner claimed that the parrot could speak five languages fluently. Excited by the idea of having a multilingual pet, Mr. Donovan immediately purchased it and brought it home.

The owner calmly told him to be patient and advised him to try again. Determined, Mr. Donovan spent the next two weeks talking nonstop to the parrot. Still, not a single word came out of its beak. Feeling cheated, he returned to the shop once more, angrier than before.

My Grandmother’s Garden

My grandmother’s garden is one of the most peaceful places I have ever visited. It is located behind her small wooden house and is filled with colorful flowers and fresh vegetables. Every morning, she wakes up early to water the plants and remove dry leaves. She believes that a garden reflects the heart of its owner, and that is why hers is always neat and full of life.

The garden is divided into two sections. On the right side, bright roses, sunflowers, and orchids bloom beautifully. Their fragrance spreads across the air, creating a calming atmosphere. There is also a small stone path that leads to a wooden bench where my grandmother and I often sit to enjoy the view.

On the left side, she grows vegetables like spinach, tomatoes, and cucumbers. She rarely buys vegetables from the market because most of her daily needs come from her own garden. The vegetables are always fresh and taste better than anything from a store.

In the middle of the garden, there is a small pond filled with clear water and colorful fish. The sound of water gently flowing makes the garden feel like a natural paradise. To me, my grandmother’s garden is not just a place to grow plants—it is a place where I feel loved, peaceful, and connected to nature.

How to Make a Simple Bird Feeder

Making a simple bird feeder is a fun activity and a great way to help local birds find food, especially during dry seasons. With just a few materials, you can create a feeder that attracts colorful birds to your yard or balcony.

To begin, prepare the materials you need: a plastic bottle, a pair of scissors, a wooden stick, a piece of string, and some bird seeds. Make sure the bottle is clean and dry before using it. The wooden stick will serve as a perch where birds can sit while eating.

First, cut two small holes on opposite sides of the bottle, just large enough for the birds to reach the seeds. Then, create another pair of small holes lower on the bottle and insert the wooden stick through them. This will create a perch. Next, fill the bottle halfway with bird seeds. Finally, tie the string around the top of the bottle and hang it on a tree branch or hook outside.

Place the feeder somewhere safe, away from cats or other animals that might scare the birds. In a few days, you will begin to see birds visiting and enjoying the food you provided. This simple feeder not only helps the birds but also gives you a chance to observe nature up close.
